This article focuses on analyzing the reasons for the non-integration of the French language in some schools in the Bakongola chiefdom, Kibombo territory in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These reasons include pedagogical factors (underqualified teachers, complexity of the language, predominance of mother tongues: Swahili and Kikusu), organizational factors (inappropriate teaching methods, lack of personalized support, heterogeneity of classes), and socio-cultural factors (feelings of linguistic insecurity, peer pressure, differences between family and school uses of the language).
Furthermore, potential solutions are also outlined to ensure the integration of the French language in all the schools surveyed. These include: requiring students who do not speak French to be disciplined by prioritizing other languages; hiring qualified teachers who are proficient in French and capable of effectively conveying the concepts taught; providing well-stocked libraries with appropriate textbooks; and discontinuing the practice of parents paying teachers bonuses.
