Through a psychosocial and analytical approach, this article deciphers some Songye cultural values that can be integrated into the training and learning process to contribute to development education in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It shows that behind each Songye proverb or prohibition lie values that align with a particular vision of life and development. These values appear as crucial tools for promoting development-oriented education grounded in our local realities, as they reveal training opportunities that foster good citizenship among young people and the organization of community life.
We seek this type of knowledge in the content of communications connected to our specific realities, rather than knowledge disconnected from our cultural identity, given that the values contained in the cultures of approximately 450 ethnic groups in our country guide our behaviors, mindsets, and practices.
This study, situated within a psychopedagogical framework, particularly in ethnopedagogy, contributes to understanding how to guide the development of contextualized teaching programs to achieve objectives aligned with the realistic Congolese education system.
