This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of educational games in developing classroom interaction and improving volleyball motor skills among secondary school students aged 14–16 years in Baghdad Governorate. The sample consisted of 60 male students selected purposively from secondary schools and applied in the sports hall of the Directorate of Education of Baghdad Al-Karkh during the period from 10/9/2025 to 3/4/2026. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test for a single group was used. The program of educational games was implemented within volleyball lessons to enhance students’ engagement and skill performance. The study tools included a classroom interaction scale and performance tests for volleyball skills (serving, setting, and forearm passing). The results were analyzed using paired sample t-tests.
The findings revealed statistically significant differences between the pre-test and post-test results in favor of the post-test in all variables. This means that the educational games positively affected not only the classroom interaction, but also the motor skill performance. The findings suggest that the incorporation of an educational game to the physical education lessons contributes to an improvement in the motivation, participation and learning of skills by students as well as allows a more interactive and effective learning context than other didactic strategies.
