Abstract

The analysis of teachers’ continuing professional development needs represents a major concern in pedagogical management and educational system governance. Indeed, the practice of the teaching profession at the primary level in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in Kinshasa, raises important issues related to evaluation from both pedagogical and managerial perspectives.

In order to develop an instrument for analyzing the continuing training needs of primary school teachers and to determine the metrological qualities of this tool, a study was conducted with a sample of 120 teachers. The survey results showed that the two hypotheses formulated beforehand were clearly confirmed, as the instrument developed to assess teachers’ continuing professional development needs demonstrates satisfactory metrological qualities, including validity (content and internal validity) and reliability.
